What is SAT?

The SAT is a standardized test that is widely used in the United States for college admissions. Since its inception in 1926, the Scholastic Aptitude Test has had several names and scores; originally called the Scholastic Aptitude Test, it was later renamed the Scholastic Assessment Test, then the SAT I: Reasoning Test, then the SAT Reasoning Test, then simply the SAT.

The College Board, a private, non-profit organization in the United States, owns, develops, and publishes the SAT entirely. It is administered on behalf of the College Board by the Educational Testing Service, which also created the SAT until recently. The test is designed to assess students' college readiness. The SAT was not originally intended to be aligned with high school curricula, but several changes were made for the 2016 version of the SAT, and College Board president David Coleman stated that he also wanted the test to reflect more closely what students learn in high school with the new Common Core standards.

What is Power Math SAT?
